The HTC Dream has a 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 320x480 pixels and the ability of display 65k colors. The phone has a full QWERTY keyboard and an accelerometer to help in the auto rotation of the display when the phone is tilted. It also has a trackball to make the navigation easier. The four standard Android keys are laid out as physical buttons as opposed to today's touch sensitive buttons.

The phone is low on the storage front with just 192 MB of RAM and 256 MB of ROM. But you can extend the memory of the device by using a microSD card. On the connectivity front, the HTC Dream supports HSDPA at 7.2Mbps and HSUPA at 2Mbps. The phone also has Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g), Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP support (headset only), and a miniUSB port for PC connectivity and charging purposes.

The HTC Dream has a 3.15MP camera which takes photos with a resolution of 2048x1536 pixels and also records video in VGA resolution. There is no secondary or front facing camera in the phone for video calling or taking self portraits.

Since the phone is very old, the OS which comes on the HTC Dream is Android 2.1, or Donut. But the OS is upgradable. It runs on a 528 MHz ARM 11 processor and has a dedicated Adreno 130 GPU. Unfortunately for many people, there is no GPS or A-GPS support on the HTC Dream.
