HTC has experimented with designs with several phones, but HTC Smart was introduced just to see how well the new platform works with smart phone users. The design of Smart is not something exquisite. The display is a 2.8\" resistive touch screen with QVGA resolution. Compared to other smart phones, this screen is much smaller. The main problem with the display is that it is very poor under bright sunlight.

The important attraction of HTC Smart is the Brew Mobile operating system. Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless (BREW) is a less known operating system from Qualcomm. There is nothing much that BREW has to offer with respect to interface, but HTC has cleverly included HTC Sense UI with Brew. If you are used to android mobile phones from HTC, you will see that HTC Smart is something very similar as it features Sense interface. Unlike android or Windows Mobile, BREW is not a complete operating system and it can only be seen as a feature rich phone platform that provides very limited app support.

The 3 megapixel camera at the rear end is pretty basic, but with autofocus and LED flash, it performs a reasonably good job on taking images and videos. Music player and video player are very basic and since BREW doesn't provide extended app support, you should be satisfied with what you get with the HTC Smart. The only soothing factor is that it has onboard FM radio in terms of entertainment.

Connectivity options like 3G support and Bluetooth are provided. However, Wi-Fi is not provided which means that you only have to rely on your phone network. OBIGO browser, which is an in-house application for BREW is only available with Smart and it is pretty disappointing. Even though HTC Smart is called a smart phone, it is essentially not a smart phone and it is suitable only for those who want touch screen device at a very low price. "; include 'phone.php'; ?>
