HTC phones are incredibly popular as touch screen phones with their gorgeous screen and excellent touch screen interface. HTC has also released a handful of touch phones with a slide out QWERTY keyboard. Beginner smart phone users may find it difficult to face with the transition of losing a keyboard altogether while going for a touch screen phone. Sometimes, the full QWERTY keyboard is overkill. HTC Tide with 2.6\" QVGA touch screen along with a numeric physical keypad is targeted at beginner level smart phone users who are looking for an upgrade.

Initially, the news was that HTC Tide will be running on Android 2.1 operating system. As the phone is a touch phone, we can expect that HTC will add its own Sense UI. The use of the unusual numeric keypad can be interesting because several mobile phone users are so much used to the T9 predictive text input using a numeric keypad. The unusual combination has sparked the interest because this phone is going to be one of its kind.

Interestingly, HTC Tide has a complete list of connectivity options like Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It also comes packed with support for HSDPA 3G networks and A-GPS. We can expect Opera browser to be preloaded, but sometimes, HTC can have some surprise factor. Tide's specs also indicate the presence of a 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus. The leaked images show that there is no flash, but we have to wait and watch how far the camera will be able to perform. With android, there should be some basic audio and video player.

As of now, we can only expect that a revamped HTC Tide will be made available during 2011 because the phone which was once assumed to be a scrapped form factor is gaining some attention once again, especially after the release of HTC Chacha. "; include 'phone.php'; ?>
